Jalpath is not a large sprawling retreat, if you are expecting one. But it is cozy and idyllic and green and as pretty a picture! Just the kind of place one would want to visit when you just want to unwind and relax. But that's not all.... they have in-house artisans who take you through pottery, block printing, weaving, dokra and so much more. You could even try your hand at some of these! We also enjoyed the food they served us. And are so grateful for the extended facilities they provided to us because of the senior members of our group. We would love to go back again!

The place leaves a lot to be desired. Located just outside of the city of Kolkata, the place is quaint and secluded and gives a sense of calm. But it does need some amount of attention and upkeep. In its current form, it's barely functional. They could also benefit from assigning a guide/ host of sort to groups who make day bookings, whereby they don't leave their guests unattended and rely on them to reach out for meals or activity planning throughout the day.

We visited Jalpath during Independence weekend. The location is quite close to Science City and easy to locate. The lady who was responsible for booking was very approachable and helpful throughout. We stayed in the suite room which is big enough for 4 people. Few improvements can certainly be made but it is worth the money. The food served was cooked in authentic rural style and the portion was huge. Definitely recommended.

I, along with two of my ex-colleagues and their wives visited the place on 9 December, 2021. Although I have rated the place 2 out of 5, I must say at the outset that it has some advantages.Let me mention the advantages first. 1.The greatest advantage of the place is its proximity to the city. So, it is an ideal place for a day-out tour. Here one has the scope to see nature in its pristine form. 2. The food is quite good, and the young boy serving the food was quite pleasant. However, every discerning tourist may, we believe, get disillusioned and disappointed after reaching the place unless some deficiencies are rectified. These are mentioned below. 3. The place is very untidy. This puts off a visitor as soon as he enters the place. It is not without reason that we say that cleanliness is next to godliness. 4. The room as well as the dining area looks pale and gloomy. This has a dampening effect on the enthusiasm of the visitors. There should be be proper illunination which would soothe the eyes and not dazzle them and at the same time impart a cheerful look to the room and the dining area. We must, however, say that the concept in designing the interiors and the roof of these units deserve appreciation. 5. As soon as the doors of the room are opened, one can feel a nauseating smell. It is true that this kind of stench comes out after a room, which has remained closed for some time is suddenly opened. In order to avoid this problem, before handing over the room to the visitors, a soft room freshener may be sprayed. 6. There is a small pond in front of a cottage, which should have an attraction for the tourists. But the water of the pond is extremely squalid. The water should be treated at regular intervals. Some small varieties of small fish may be kept there for visual pleasure of the tourists. 7.There is a travesty of an aquarium in the form of a small tank (with some coloured fish in it), in which the water is extremely dirty. This should be properly maintained, so that it becomes a source of attraction for the tourists. 8. The place may be interspersed with aesthetically laid small areas of seasonal flower gardens, which would significantly improve the natural ambience of the place. 8. The maintenance and upkeep of the whole place requires lot of improvement. Correction of these deficiencies does not call for much investment/running expenses. But the visitors will have sweet memories of their visits to this place This will also create immense potential for commercial use of the property.
